This is intended to be a weekend camping trip in a BLM (free) dry campground on Friday to Sunday, Sept. 8th to 10th, 2023. It is not recommended to be a day trip as it too far a drive. Mountain Mesa is about 15 minutes northeast and has a nice hotel (lakeview-motel.com). If you are camping the weekend, bring enough food and drinking water for the time you will be stay or Lake Isabella is about 3 minutes away and has few grocery store and nice restaurants available. We are going to prospection for gold on the Kern River, just below the Lake Isabella Dam. The water should be cold and the weather should be sunny highs in the low 90's and lows in the mid 50's.
