UCLA Meteorite Collection & Gallery

Led by Lisa Batchelder-Hetrick. Normal road travel, no special vehicle requirements. This is an indoor field trip.

Depending on traffic, Ventura is 1.5 to 2 hours from UCLA. We will be meeting at 10am in front of the UCLA Geology Building which is across the street from the Visitor Parking Structure 2. The cost is several dollars per hour and there is plenty of space.

We will be meeting with UCLA Department of Earth, Planetary and Space Sciences Assistant Professor: Peng Ni. Peng will welcoming us into the Gallery and provide a brief talk discussing the various cabinets and explaining what types of meteorites are in each of them and their significance. The group will then be able to look around and ask questions.

This field trip is scheduled to last about an hour to an hour and a half.

Tools: nothing but a curious and open mind is required.
